Plan-Net to scope LSN for ISO 27001

20 October 2009

LSN (Formerly Learning And Skills Network) have engaged IT Transformation specialist Plan-Net to conduct a scoping exercise of their Information Security Management System prior to the organisation embarking on the road to ISO 27001 accreditation. The exercise identified which of the ISO 27002 controls should  be applied in the organisation to meet its risk assessment and risk treatment requirements, key to ensuring the process is both successful and cost and time efficient.

Engaging with Plan-Net provides LSN with a number of key benefits during and after the project, as explained by David Cowan, Head of Infrastructure and Security Services at Plan-Net;

"We provided upfront guidance on the various approaches for the implementation of an Information Security Management System to ascertain the most cost effective and efficient framework for LSN to gain ISO 27001 certification. We will also help LSN to refine processes to meet their security requirements based on what we know about their environment and our extensive experience of what works and what doesn't work in other similar organisations."

LSN works on an independent, not-for-profit basis providing consulting, outsourcing, research, technology and training. Their 25 years' experience of delivering innovative solutions in the learning and skills sector positions them perfectly to provide services for further education, higher education, local authorities, schools, public services and work-based learning.
